PAUL STURGES

Biography: Professor of Library Studies at Loughborough University. In recent years his teaching and writing has concentrated on legal and ethical issues in library and information work. He has researched Internet access policy for the Council of Europe, privacy and Internet public access for Resource and is currently advising an international project on using ICT facilities to improve delivery of public services to poor communities funded by DFID. He is writing a book on Transparency for Ashgate.

Title: Freedom of Information Laws and National Integrity Systems

Summary: His presentation will set Freedom of Information Laws in the wider context of National Integrity Systems, which can include financial audit and accountability, corporate social responsibility, standards in public life, legal protection for public interest disclosure, regulatory and scrutiny systems, and aspects of e-governance.
