KAREN GEORGE
Biography:
Karen George is responsible
for the management of library services to staff in the Home Office
and its agencies. She has worked in several government libraries
over the last 14 years including MAFF (now DEFRA) and the Department
of Health. She is on the Committee of the Government Libraries
and Information Group and has been Editor of the Group's Government
Libraries Journal since 1996. In December 2004 Karen received the
IWR Information Professional of the Year award in recognition of her
many achievements in the field of information provision.

Summary:
The
Home Office moved to a new building in February 2005
and Karen was responsible for planning and overseeing
the transfer of the Home Office Library to its new location. She will
share her experiences of the various stages of the project, outline
how the new Library evolved from being just lines on a
piece of paper to becoming a bright, modern, fully-functioning
Library - and explain how she survived to tell the tale.
