JONATHAN DOUGLAS
Biography:
Jonathan Douglas is Head of Learning
and Access at the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).
He is a member of the National Literacy Trust's Advisory Board.
He has chaired the Children and Literature in London for London
Arts. He has been a member of the Children's Book Circle Committee
and has been a Chair of the London and South East branch of the
Youth Libraries Group.
Before working
at MLA, Jonathan was Adviser for Youth and Schools Libraries at
the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals,
where he spearheaded the influential “Start with the Child” report.
Jonathan has
worked in Westminster libraries as a children's librarian and children's
services team leader.
In September 2003 he was awarded Honorary Life Membership
of the youth Libraries Group in recognition of his service's to children's
librarianship.

Summary:
This paper will examine the relationship between information
literacy and social policy outcomes. It will also examine
how Inspiring Learning for All can support libraries in developing
strategies promoting information literacy.
