JOHN HAWES

Biography:
John was born in 1955 and graduated
from Newcastle Polytechnic in 1977. He worked in public libraries
for a range of authorities until 1996, when he was appointed librarian
at HMP Lewes. Since then he has moved on to work in prisons in Kent
and became Senior Librarian at HMP Wandsworth, the largest prison
in the country, in 2002. John is a committee member of the Prison
Libraries Group of CILIP and a contributor to the Prisons Handbook,
2005.
