ALAN DANSKIN

Biography: Alan Danskin is Manager Data Quality at the British Library.  In this role he was responsible for the migration of bibliographic data to the Integrated Library System during 2004. He has ongoing responsibility for the quality of the British Library Integrated Catalogue and for retrospective catalogue conversion.  He is Chair of CILIP Cataloguing & Indexing Group and represents the UK on the IFLA Bibliography Section Committee and the MARC Advisory Committee.

Summary: The paper will summarise surveys of the users of BL catalogues and products.  The use of FRBR as an objective measure of fitness for purpose and the importance and limitations of Quality Measures for advocacy.
